「水の日（8.1）」と兵庫運河のブルーカーボン | August 1 is Japan’s Water Day

8月1日は水の日です。
また、この日を初日とする1週間（8月1日～7日）を「水の週間」としています。
これは、平成26 年に制定された水循環基本法において定められました。
水が健全に循環することによってもたらされる水の恵みや健全な水循環の重要性についての理解と関心を深める日（週間）です。
神戸市の兵庫区沿岸部にある「兵庫運河」。ここは日本最大級を誇る運河であり、一帯は商工業地帯として栄えましたが、
それによる水質汚染などが問題となっていました。そこで、近年地元の関係者が中心となり水質浄化や景観美化活動の取り組みがはじまり
そのプロジェクトの一つとして、兵庫運河に干潟が整備されました。
これにより、海藻や海生生物の生息場が生まれ、生き物の豊かな水環境を創ることができるようになったのです。
この干潟ではアマモの移植も行い、生態系を豊かにすることに加えて、CO2 吸収につなげる取り組みを新たに行っています。
海洋植物にCO2 として取り込まれた炭素は「ブルーカーボン」と言われ、CO2吸収源として期待されています。
神戸市では、新たな脱炭素の施策として「ブルーカーボン」の取り組みを始め、また、国土交通大臣認可法人であるジャパンブルーエコノミー技術研究組合（JBE）では、藻場の保全活動等の実施者により創出されたブルーカーボンを「J ブルークレジット」として認証しています。
当社では、2022年より脱炭素社会の実現と環境に配慮した活動の一環として、兵庫運河についてのJブルークレジット証書の購入を始めました。
兵庫運河のブルーカーボンの取り組みにより脱炭素社会の実現に加えて、アマモの力で生態系が豊かになり、水環境が保全され、自然共生社会の実現にも貢献できればと考えています。
神戸酒心館では環境に配慮した取り組みをこれからも行ってまいります。
Every year on August 1 Japan celebrates Water Day.
In addition, the following week (August 1-7) is designated as Water Week.
Japan’s Water Day was established in the Water Cycle Basic Act enacted in 2014.
It represents an occasion to deepen understanding and interest in the blessings of water and the importance of a healthy water cycle, which are brought about by the healthy circulation of water.
On the coast of Hyogo Ward in Kobe City is the Hyogo Canal, one of the largest canals in Japan. While flourishing as a commercial and industrial area, water pollution became an increasingly serious issue. In recent years, the City of Kobe has focused its efforts on purifying the water and beautifying the landscape, and one of the related projects, was the development of tidal flats to create a biodiverse ecosystem that is a habitat for seaweed and marine organisms. This “Blue Carbon” project includes transplanting eelgrass to these tidal flats to enrich the ecosystem, thus implementing a new measure for decarbonization through CO2 absorption.
The Japan Blue Economy Association (JBE), a corporation authorized by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism, certifies “J Blue Credits” to implementers of seagrass bed conservation activities. Since 2022, we have been purchasing J Blue Credit certificates for the Hyogo Canal as part of our efforts to realize a carbon-free society and further our eco-friendly activities.
We hope that the Blue Carbon project on the Hyogo Canal will not only help realize a carbon-free society but also contribute to the creation of a society in harmony with nature by preserving the water environment and enriching the ecosystem through the power of eelgrass.
